Exams Information

External and internal exams are held throughout the school year. All aspects of external exams for Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 are managed by the Exams Office. Contact the office for any exam-related query.

These documents are for students taking any external exams, coursework, non-examination assessments or controlled assessments this year. They are published by the Joint Council for Qualifications and the school and students must comply with their instructions. The notices explain how you should behave before, during and after written exams, your conduct on using social media and examinations/assessments, how your personal data is processed by the awarding bodies, and the rules around the production of coursework, controlled assessments and non-examined assessments.

An Examinations Guide for Students and Parents 2024 can be found below, as can a list of exam boards and codes for each subject.

External Exams 2025
Students can find their individual exam timetables on Bromcom and a copy has been emailed to all students and parents/carers. A timetable of all exams can be found below.

Practical exams and language speaking tests won’t be shown on the exam timetable. These will take place before the main exam season; dates will be set internally. Students will be made aware of these dates nearer the time.

There are contingency sessions within the Summer 2025 exam season – the afternoon of 11th June and the morning and afternoon of 25th June. Students should be available on these dates even if they do not have an exam. These contingency dates are created to be used in the event of national or significant local disruption to exams in the United Kingdom, being part of the awarding bodies’ standard contingency planning.

During any exam season there are always exam ‘clashes’, when a small number of students will have more than one exam timetabled at the same time. We will be in contact with those students affected over the next couple of weeks. The clash can usually be resolved by sitting one exam in the morning session and the other in the afternoon.

Exam Certificates 2024

For students who stayed on at Marling in Year 12/13, certificates have been distributed in school.

For students who took GCSEs in June 2024, there will be an evening session on Tuesday 14th January between 6.15pm-8pm in the Music Hall for certificate collection.  Parking on the Downfield Road site is limited, but available.  Students will need to bring photo ID.

If you are unable to collect your certificates in person, you can nominate someone to collect them on your behalf.  Please send an email to examinations@marling.school giving the name of the nominated person.  They will be required to provide photo ID before the certificates will be released to them.

Please be aware that future employers/educational establishments will ask to see original copies of all certificates.  The exam boards charge approximately £50 each for replacements. Marling is only required to hold on to certificates for a year.

If you need to collect certificates at a different time, please email examinations@marling.school to make arrangements.
